Temporary Closures along Natchez Trace Parkway
Natchez Trace Parkway officials announce that the I-55 North (milepost 101.3) and South (milepost 101.2) bound ramps exiting the Parkway in Ridgeland will close for repairs for approximately one week each.
Temporary Ramp Closures at I-55
The Northbound ramp is closed as of Tuesday, January 6, 2020. When it reopens, the Southbound ramps will close for repairs. Entry onto the Parkway from I-55 will not be affected. Traffic exiting off the Parkway should take the Rice Road Extension to U.S. Highway 51 South then to I-55 Frontage Road to access the interstate.
Parkway Closure from U.S. Highway 49 to I-55
A portion of the Natchez Trace Parkway is temporarily closed to motor vehicles until further notice due to storm damage that has caused hazardous road conditions. The closure is from U.S. Highway 49 (mile marker 93.1) to I-55 (mile marker 100.7) near Ridgeland. The alternate routes around the closure are:
- North bound traffic should take U.S. Highway 49 South to I-220 North and then to I-55 North to enter back onto the Parkway.
- South bound traffic should take I-55 South to I-220 to U.S. Highway 49 North to enter back onto the Parkway.
Since the closure in October 2019, cyclists, walkers and joggers have taken advantage of having no cars along this portion of the Parkway to enjoy getting outside to exercise and take in nature.
Chisa Foka Multi-Use Trail Temporary Closure
A section of the bike and walk trail from the South Perkins Street (milepost 101.8) to U.S. Highway 51 (milepost 102.2) is closed temporarily for repairs. The trail will be re-opened as soon as repairs are completed in mid-February.
