Mark your calendars and book your hotel or an exciting shopping weekend in Ridgeland, Mississippi! From July 12 at 12:01 a.m. through July 14 at midnight, shoppers can enjoy the annual tax-free weekend, which will be earlier in the month this year.
Thanks to Senate Bill 2470, signed into law on April 22, 2024, this change allows shoppers more time to benefit from tax-free purchases on clothing, footwear, and specific school supplies priced under $100, accommodating students who return to class as early as mid-July.
Chris Chapman, President/CEO of Explore Ridgeland, expressed her excitement about this upcoming event.
“We’re thrilled to invite shoppers from across the region to Ridgeland to experience the best shopping in the state while saving money with tax-free benefits,” said Chapman. “Our city offers a unique blend of shopping, dining, and relaxation that makes for the perfect summer getaway.”
Ridgeland's Retail Trail offers a unique shopping experience that stretches throughout the city, featuring multiple districts. From the Renaissance at Colony Park to the newly renovated Northpark + County Line Road District, and from The Railroad District to the Bill Waller Craft Center, there’s something for everyone. Explore the diverse offerings in the Highway 51 + Trace Station + Oak Place District and Old Canton Road + Lake Harbour Road District, and discover why Ridgeland has become a shopping mecca for locals and visitors alike.
Local retailers are already gearing up for this signature shopping weekend. Lesley Holleman, owner of Fleet Feet in Ridgeland, shared her enthusiasm:
“As a retailer, we love Mississippi’s tax-free weekend and the excitement that little bit of relief brings,” said Holleman. “The phrase ‘tax-free’ gets people fired up to shop, and Mississippians from all over the state come to stock up on new shoes and clothing. Our sales for the weekend have grown each year since it started. It’s so fun for us to see the excitement build around supporting local businesses!”
The tax-free weekend has also become a popular time for return visitors from various states, turning the event into the ultimate girlfriend getaway. With a variety of hotels, spas, and over 140 dining options, Ridgeland is the perfect destination for a refreshing weekend escape. Enjoy local cuisine, live music, and relaxing spas to unwind after a day of serious shopping.
